Messebo Cement Expansion project (MCEP) was conceived in a time of consistent economic growth and construction boom seen in the country in the preceding years of its inception. The construction boom has created a drastic increase in the demand for cement; cognizant of this fact EFFORT conceived the idea of expanding the existing Messebo cement plant by adding a new cement production line. The expansion project was then implemented in a fast –track way.
Presently Ethiopia is going through a phase of reconstruction and infrastructure development. This Cement Plant is expected to give a boost to this effort and at the same time reduce cement imports, utilize indigenous resources, provide direct employment and promote development of transport, construction and ancillary industry
